Nintendo DSi LL Announced. Why? [UPDATED]

[UPDATE] Nintendo has released an official statement, saying that both Europe and North American will be getting it in the first quarter of 2010, meaning sometime between January 1 and March 31.

Rumors started piling up on this roughly yesterday morning, that Nintendo would be announcing an update to the DSi, mainly boasting 4" screens.

Now, I may need to remind you, the DSi was the first incarnation to sport larger screens on the device since it's launch back in 2004. The DS and DS lite both had 3" screens. The DSi bumped that up to 3.25", and now the LL will be packing 4.2" screens. How much larger does that make the DSi LL than the regular DSi? Head past the break to find out.

[REVIEW] Brütal Legend

I had no interest in Brütal Legend when I heard about, as I was going to simply pass it over, scoffing at the fact they chose to release day-in-date with Uncharted 2. After playing the demo, I was convinced I would be buying it and enjoy it. And I did.

Brütal Legend is an overall great experience with amazing metal tributes and commendations. Ozzy as the "Guardian of Metal," Kyle Gass as the mortar cannon operator, animals as motorcycles. Oh, and Jack Black as Eddie Riggs. Tim Schafer made sure metal was oozing out of every corner of this game, and he succeeded. I just wish that more developers would actually take pride in their game and put as much effort in creating a game as the way Tim did here.

The landscape is, by far, a masterpiece. Engines and exhaust pipes litter the land, trees that grow exhaust pipes, giant guitars with hands playing them cast in stone, the Rockmore Effigy, Bladehenge, Lyonwhite's Pleasure Dome, the Kill Master's fortress, everything comes together as one huge metal tribute.

What the hell happened to GTA IV?

I rush home after queuing up The Ballad of Gay Tony on, I turn the 360 on, let it download, pop in GTA IV and get settled in what is being praised as a phenomenal way to end the stories of Liberty City.

I have one question after getting passed the "Bang Bang" mission: What the fuck happened?

I've experienced shitty controls, terrible clipping issues, floating cars (far more than what it was in Niko's story and TLAD) and an overall horrid experience. I simply cannot stand playing this game right now.

The driving is my main problem, specifically with the "floaty" issue. It took me about 30 minutes to get used to the new driving physics when GTA IV first came out. I've been playing TBoGT for 3 goddamned hours. There's no way in mighty fuck that I can enjoy this game.

I'm going back to Ratchet & Clank. I'll see you when L4D2's demo drops next week, 360.

God of War Collection Dated, Trophied

Thank god! Finally, after a long wait, November is 4 days. But your betrothed God of War Collection is soon on it's way. What day? The 17. That's right, the same goddamned day as Assassin's Creed II, Left 4 Dead 2, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Tony Hawk: Ride, and a metric fuck-ton of Blu-Ray movie releases (Fight Club, Star Trek, Clerks, Chasing Amy and Brüno).

But, they have trophies, too! It's been confirmed that both games will be treated as separate games, considering both are on a single disc (really, if they put each game on it's own Blu-Ray disc, that's pathetic). Both games have their own trophy lists, which means Platinums for each game. Yes, there is a trophy for the sex mini-game in GoW1. And trust me, the Platinums will not be hard. That is, you don't get along with the Challenge of the Titans. I swear to god, that guy will never be allowed at Thanksgiving again!

Catch the list after the break.

God of War III Box Art

Image via

Caught this while browsing Amazon, and hey, it's $57!

OK, so it says "Not Final," but I want this to be the final box art. Seeing as what they did to the Collection, I dare see what they do with another version.

You can see Kratos' face has been cropped on the left hand side, looking at the top of his red mark, it's cut off. That, and the lack of a nose.

With Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time all featuring faces of characters from the game, it's only a matter of time before all you'll start seeing the brain of the person you'll be playing as.

Ghost Recon: Predator?

Well, according to Australia's version of the ESRB, the OLFC, who rated a game with such a title, a successor to the Advanced Warfighter is - finally - closer to release.

Initially announced through an Ubisoft financial forecast document, but officially announced it earlier this year in April.

No details on the game, but the financial forecast had slated it before April 2010. Well, all the major game shows have gone and past, so there's not much room for Ubisoft to announce this. Expect it to be delayed into the late summer or early fall and gameplay shown at E3.

[TIME NOTE] The Issue With Killzone 2

Yet another "Time Note." This time, I take a look a recent document I had, back on June 28 of this year. This gave me plenty of time to hate Killzone 2's controls. However, my issue doesn't lay simply in the controls, but more of the game itself. Read down to read exactly why the controls have major issues, and many other reasons why KZ2 is keeping itself from having me enjoy it. Anything written in the article in red, italicized font is my current input on my previous thoughts

Killzone 2 has gotten an incredible amount of flak for its controls. This is not the only thing that plagues this game, however. Everywhere I look, people are hating on the controls and “lag”. Type “Killzone 2” and “hate” "controls" into Google and see what comes up. I haven’t seen this much distastefulness for a game in a long time.

Firstly, before I get any further, let me introduce myself. Friends call me “Nintendo Tim” because they say I know all there is to know about video games. Others say just Nintendo, hence the name. I do like to claim myself as someone who knows a lot about gaming, but I know I don’t know “everything.” Nobody does, nor will they ever. I am someone who has played video games extensively over many years. I’ve played my fair share of games, so don’t label me as some shmuck that merely thinks he knows what he’s talking about. I don’t speak with random symbols in 1337-speak (although I’m familiar with that abominably fucked up way of conversating with other idiots who choose to limit their dialogue to ampersands and exclamation marks), nor do I say “were u @??” when I’m texting or posting a message on facebook. Let’s get to the grit:

Get a Sneak Peek At Halo: Waypoint

For those not keeping up, Halo: Waypoint is not a new Halo game, but a "destination" of sorts for Halo fans, which is an Xbox Live-exclusive stop for everything Halo...well, not including 1 and 2.

To watch the video detailing Waypoint, jump over to Joystiq and watch their video. Worth the watch, actually.

[REVIEW] Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

I've been waiting for this for a very long time. Oh my god, have I been waiting for this for a long time. Ever since I beat Uncharted, I knew there would be a sequel. Call is Gamer's Intuition, if you will.

Uncharted blew me away. I never got into Jak & Daxter, nor was I a fan of Crash Bandicoot. But Uncharted was compelling enough for me to pick it. I'm so glad I did. I became stuck at the last level and gave up, but it was when the Trophy patch was unleashed that I picked it back up and beat the game. Huzzah!

Now, two years later, Uncharted 2 has graced us with it's presence, and I for one can say, it's about goddamned time.

The Problem With Reward Systems in Gaming

This is a long time coming. I have some serious beef with Sony's Trophy system for the PS3 - and the lack of one for the PSP - the lack of one from Nintendo, and Microsoft's fuddling with their own system, which started the craze. The idea of writing about it has been lingering in the back of my head for a while now, and after getting Platinum in Uncharted 2, I can see this would be an opportune moment to do so.

Sony's Trophy system, the answer to Microsoft's Achievements, seems like a bastard child. Sony needed something to get gamers to buy into their side of the Console War. Like myself, many gamers will buy the 360 version simply because it has Achievements. When Uncharted's trophy patch hit, I was waist-deep in GamerScore and didn't really care too much about Sony's trophies, which is botched in many ways than one.

The trophies do seem like a good alternative to a simple point architecture. You have your bronze, silver and gold trophies, as well as the elusive platinum trophy for earning all trophies in a single retail title. There are very few PlayStation Network (PSN) games that offer a platinum trophy (WipEout HD and Trine come to mind) simply because they offer much more gameplay than, say, flOw. That, and they cost just as much as a full retail game. The 360's point system works in a way that retail games come with no more than 1000 GamerScore with a maximum of 50 achievements off the bat, while Arcade games have 200 GS and 12 achievements. They can add an additional 50 points to Arcade games through DLC, and up to 1250 for retail, however, some games go way beyond that (Halo 3 and Fallout 3 have a current standing of 1750 GS).

The problem with the hierarchy is that no developer seems to understand how daunting a feat is in a game.

Black Wii Remote and Nunchuk Price/Date Revealed

Image via Joystiq

It's finally official: You can score a black Wiimote and Nunchuck on November 16. The Nunchuk is your standard, $20 fare. The Wiimote, as previously announced, will come bundled with the MotionPlus attachment, selling for $50 together ($60 is bought separately).

Still no word on that black Wii we've been clamoring for, but, knowing Nintendo, don't hold your breath for it.

Call of Duty: Classic Achievements Revealed

About time. For those not in the know, Call of Duty: Classic, the original CoD, is going to be released alongside Modern Warfare 2 as a "timed exclusive" for those who buy the Hardened or Prestige editions of the game. No release date for XBLA/PSN has been announced, but it's sometime afterward for roughly $15 real dollars. Expect these to be the PSN's Trophies, as well.

The achievements, gathered by my favorite achievement-tracking site,, has compiled the list comprising of 12 achievements. There is your standard fare of achievements, such as normal story progression and actually beating the game. However, there are some oddballs such as beating a mission without dying or loading a checkpoint and beating a mission using solely your pistol (melee's do not count).

[MIDNIGHT LAUNCH] Get your Uncharted 2 and Brütal Legend In...45 minutes

I just realized that both Uncharted 2 and Brütal Legend are getting midnight launches. There's only one store near me - GameStop in Woodbridge, the one next to Party City - and it's throwing down for both games. However, I have a rack of Best Buy Reward Zone certificates piled up, and then there's the Toys R Us Buy 2 Get 1 deal they're having, so I'll probably just wait until tomorrow for them.

It's officially Rocktober 13 tomorrow, so get your fedoras and...oh, wait, sorry, wrong franchise. So get your quarter-tuck/three-quarter-tuck shirts and your spiked gauntlets, because it's going to be a hell of a ride tomorrow.

Uncharted 2 Betas expiring quicker than a fat man at a marathon [UPDATED]

[UPDATED] Wow. All I have to say is "wow."

Sony just updated the PS.b to say that to make up for the screw up today, they'll be increase the number of FHE prizes from 10 to 20 for Saturday and Sunday. They will still honor the Monday entrants with the normal 10. They effectively doubled your chance to win one for Saturday and Sunday, and are giving out 50 instead of 30 FHEs. They only made 200, so the other 150 are for this weekend, which brings me to my next point.

This weekend - Friday through Sunday - if you play the game online, you'll be entered into another chance to win the FHE. They're handing out 30 for the weekend. They will be randomly selecting names, so make sure you're playing! There is a mention of contest rules to follow, however, there is nothing on the blog post.

Read it all for yourself at the link below. I'm getting a 400 error on my Mac with "nginx" below it (seriously, all it says is "400 Bad Request" and "nginx"), but my PS3 has no problem pulling it up. Good luck.

PS.b - Uncharted 2 Demo Ended - More Chances to Win the Fortune Hunter Edition

Oh, and everything below is pretty much has a null-and-void stamp all over it, but it's an interesting read. I've hidden the original post past the break, so read at your own will.

Uhh...flOw Gets Trophies?

I was comparing Trophies to a friend, and noticed he had flOw trophies. I fired it up and was prompted to download version 2.10. I did and blammo, Trophies.

The full list can be viewed at PS3 Trophy Guide. I, for one, know this will do for today until I get Uncharted 2 and Brütal Legend tomorrow.

You are getting Uncharted 2 and Brütal Legend tomorrow...right?

My IGN Reader Reviews

I went ahead and posted my Metroid Prime: Trilogy review over at IGN, and I went to check up on my reader reviews to see how they've stood the test of time.

My, oh my, how they have.

Out of 17 reviews, 15 of them are in the top 10 (88%) with 13 of them in the top 5 (77%). Four of them are placed first (24%; go me!). The other two reviews I did - GTA: San Andreas and Conker: Live and Reloaded - are ranked 25th and 14th, respectively. The only reason I can see that is because I tore them up in my review. San Andreas, being the largest - horizontally - GTA game, and the most anticipated one on the PS2, I made sure people knew it didn't do anything spectacular as game, and some mechanics were broken. I did give it a good score (9.5). Conker, however, I pretty much said Rare should never do remakes. The controls were buggy, platforming wasn't solid, and the humor that made it great back in the day was the mainstay humor we all use then and even today.

However, IGN's reader review system is broken. At the top of the list for Metroid: Zero Mission lies a review, giving it a 4.8, saying it was absolutely terrible. Readers gave it 3 thumbs up at 18 thumbs down. It was the review with the most thumbs up, granted, but those negative "thumbs" should discredit any thumbs up he's gotten; 14% of people agree with his review, whereas my review scored 2 up/1 down, meaning 67% agreed with me. The other reviews above me earned 2 up/3 (40%) down, 2 up/2 down (50%), 3 up/3 down (50%) or 3 up/2 down (60%). By my count, I have the highest Metroid: Zero Mission reader review. kthxbi.

By the way, yes, I love crunching numbers.

The breakdown of my review's after the break.

[DELAY] Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Delayed

For those wanting their Silent Hill fix for the Wii, you'll have to wait another month.

According to GameStop, every version planned will be getting a delay from November 3 to December 8. GameFly, on the other hand, says November 26 for the Wii, and December 31 for the PSP and PS2.

So what exactly is going on? I'm not sure. Never was privy to Silent Hill, but I guess another month couldn't hurt.

Could it?

Resistance 3 Announced?

As I'm cruising through my RSS feeds playing the Uncharted 2 MP demo, I see something in regards to a Resistance 3 billboard. Considering Sony and billboards get along so well (giant PSP ad, the black/white controversy, et cetera), it didn't surprise me Sony would do some future-advertising (PS9 anyone?).

Turns out, it's a stage prop for a movie being filmed in LA called Battle: Los Angeles featuring everyone's favorite Harvey Dent, Aaron Eckhart, and an eagle-eyed reader over at NeoGAF (goldsoundz) spotted the billboard while driving, and snapped the obligatory photos.

The movie itself isn't due out until February 2011, so I'm sure Sony could get R3 rubbed out by then. You could even say we can look forward to a Winter 2010 release date for the game, seeing as every game in the series has released in the Winter of their respective launch years.

Head past the break for details and my own speculation on what this could mean.

Uncharted 2 Online: Not that bad

Just played a few maps of Uncharted 2 online, and I have to say, I'm impressed by how Naughty Dog pulled this out of their ass, being their first online multiplayer venue (Jak X Racing being their first multiplayer game).

I played Ice Caves (or whatever it's called, the place with snow; I really don't take notes when playing games) twice in a row, and the map was fairly big, but not big enough to host 5v5 matches, which is what I played. Maybe the Plaza (which I dicked around in for a bit, fiddling with control settings and relearning Uncharted's button mapping), but not Ice Caves.

Starting off, while waiting in the lobby, you are presented with one of two choices of maps to play. Similar to Halo's Veto system, however, instead of being presented with one map, and if enough people veto, you get a second, non-vetoable map. Here, you can choose between the two, and whichever gets the most votes wins. Afterwards, you'll get a short countdown and a loading screen appears to load the map. I would think they would merge this with the countdown sequence or something better than a loading screen which can take roughly 15-20 seconds. Compared to Halo 3's loading, once that timer ends, it's about a 2-4 second latency before the match is up and loading.

Having problems getting your PS3 online? Put it in a DMZ!

It's a relatively easy guide to follow, and helped me get my PS3 online after so many issues.

To begin, my PS3 was getting D/L speeds of about 4Mb/s, according to For those who don't know what that means, it means "shitty." According to me, I timed my Uncharted 2 demo download, timing 5MBs worth of downloaded data, and I calculated 0.83Mb/s. That's incredibly shitty.  The average speed is roughly, oh, 14...15Mb/s. That's what my computer gets. That's what my iPhone gets. So, I hopped on the PlayStation forums and posted a thread. I got directed to a link for a guide on how to put your PS3 in a DMZ, or demilitarized zone.

Starters, it has nothing to do with the military, so don't worry about that. Secondly, here's a definition of a DMZ, provided by the guide's creator:

it really means that rather than opening just one port on your routers firewall you are actually opening every single one. Port opening is another simple process, however it takes a bit of time to find exactly what ports need opening, and sometimes, the ports listed may not solve the problem you have.

So, there you go. The only problem? My PS3's speeds are about 5.6Mb/s now. Again, shitty. Still yet, I can connect to the PSN quicker than I could before, and I can actually get into a matchmaking lobby for Uncharted 2's demo to try and win that FHE (still having problems with that, as it will search and get to "Searching for Any Game" and kicks me back to the pre-game lobby).

It's worth a read if you're having problems, and worth a go for shits and giggles. Hell, if you're not having problems, you might even boost your speed.

GUIDE: Put Your PS3 in a DMZ

That video comparing Metroid Prime to Citizen Kane

It's not a bad video, and he does make a point, but being a person that never watched Citizen Kane (although I do understand some of the references and the impact it had on film), I can't fully understand how he thinks Metroid Prime is doing wonders for gaming.

Case in Point: Who the hell has used Metroid Prime - or even Metroid as a whole series - as a basis for their game over and over? Who looks to Metroid as an astounding accomplishment in gaming? Yes, it pretty much paved the way for armor-clad heroes, however, don't believe for a minute that I'm "dissing" Metroid in any way. I absolutely love Metroid, and it's in my top 5 of favorite series.

Making the outlandish claim that Metroid Prime is the Citizen Kane of gaming? Metroid Prime is an example of phenomenal game balance, control mapping and fluidity, as well as sucking you into the atmosphere of the multiple worlds you'll be visited across the trilogy (Tallon IV, Aether, Bryyo, etc). Retro did an excellent job of creating Metroid Prime as a trilogy (although I feel they slacked a bit with Echoes) and they know it.

But has it impacted gaming like Kane did for films? I have yet to see such impact.

Finally, details on how to win Uncharted 2's Fortune Hunter Edition: Play the demo!

Ok, so we already knew how to, but they didn't say when.

Effective tonight, err, tomorrow, whatever, at 12:01AM PST on October 10 and ending 11:59PM PST October 12 (that's 3:01AM start and 2:59PM end time for those who face my recent enemy, the UK), play the demo. According to the

I finally looked at my SiteMeter stats for the first time...

Holy balls. 479 visits this week. 520 total. That means, prior to this week, I only had, what, 40 visits? Seriously, what did I do to get that many hits this week?

SiteMeter doesn't show you the current day's stats, so I know it wasn't my Brütal Legend video on YouTube (FYI, I will always use 'ü' when typing Brütal Legend. Get used to it). I wonder what it could have been. I barely advertise the site anywhere...

[IN OTHER PLACES] Destroyed Controller Now on YouTube

Despite my first DC video (I'm going to run into problems with DC Comics, I just know it) being on my personal YouTube account, I went ahead and created an account specifically for the site.

World, please welcome DesCon's YouTube Channel.

Trying new things. First, simply Destroyed Controller. Then, DC Online; that didn't last long. Finally, DesCon hits. Maybe Destructocon...actually, MySpace and facebook already have users with that as their URL name - yes, I did just Google it, too.

Shit. Well, if any readers out there care to contribute, give me your best name. Hell, give me a banner. Give me a render. Something to spark up this site.

[UPDATE] You know, I really didn't even bother to say what I'll be posting. Expect a lot of various content, but not a whole lot of content itself; I'm a one-man army, and I can only do so little. There will be little no editing whatsoever - I simply don't know how to work video edition software, hell, I don't even own video editing software.

Content wise?
  • Unboxing/unwrapping of video game special edition and gadgets, both of the gaming variety and not
  • Video reviews (not every game I buy will get a video review or even a review)
  • Random videos with content that can only be explained via video
  • Midnight launches of major game releases and consoles (expect console midnight launches years away)
You've been warned.

[UNWRAPPING] Brütal Legend Pre-Order LP Sleeve

Brütal Legend LP Sleeve

So much talk about this pre-order incentive from Best Buy. Announced on blogs, then Best Buy disavows knowledge of the bonus. Employees don't know about it, and the website doesn't show anything about it.

Well, it appears only the employees that double as gamers only know about this, seeing as nobody in the store knew about this (despite, the fact, the same store I used to work for where I quit a year ago). I find their endcap littered with the pre-order boxes, and low and behold, on the top rack, lies the LP cover.

This isn't the size of a CD, oh hell no. This is a full blown, full size LP cover. Well, maybe not full blown, despite the LP sleeve opens part way, as if glued down. Why?

The unwrapping video is in the break. Seriously, can you call this an unboxing when there's nothing to unbox?

Another UK-Exclusive PS3 Special Edition: Ratchet & Clank [UPDATE]

Image via UK

OK, this is getting goddamned annoying. First Infamous, then Uncharted 2, now Ratchet & Clank. Seriously Sony: What the crap?

I got on the European, where this was announced, and unleashed my anger:

Got this story from Kotaku, and I'm from the US, FYI.

Does Sony not like American gamers? I mean, it started with Infamous, then Uncharted 2, now ACIT. Paying £55 (that's $90 for me, which is $20 too much for an SE of this caliber) for a game, plus shipping to import, is absolutely ridiculous.

Naughty Dog (Uncharted), Insomniac (R&C) and Sucker Punch (Infamous) are all US-based studios, with ND being the only Sony-owned studio. All their recent outings on the PS3 are getting UK-exclusive Special Editions for their latest games. Conspiracy?

I would have loved to buy the Infamous SE, especially for the GTA-style box art and the comic. I'm a huge fan of SteelBook cases (love 'em). The Uncharted 2 SE is really cool (especially the case), and all the extra goodies for ACIT are good as well.

What the crap, Sony? Where's the love for America?

I hate this. I absolutely hate this. Why are US-based studios releasing Special Edition only in the UK? That's a huge "what the fuck" from gamers - especially me - and a huge middle finger from Sony to US gamers.

[UPDATE] I'm already getting flak for my post on the UK One user in particular (name withheld) calling me out - or simply saying the "Americans" - on my "whining," and claims that this is retribution for us getting Formula 1: Championship Edition and LittleBigPlanet before them, despite them being from UK-based studios. Hey, at least you got them.

PSP Slim with Dual Nubs, Camera, 32GB Flash Memory, not a dream

My first thought? GTFO. JoblessPunk DESIGNS has modded everything you would want in the PSP Slim, that should have been there from the PSP Phat, and should have been added in the PSPgo. Just goes to show, Sony wants to make as much money off of as little as possible. Sounds like another company we all know too well...

Anyways, there's a YouTube video of some chick from a bubble-gum pop looking band, Audioclique (note: the only reason I say that is because she looks identical to one of the girls from the band The Millionaires, who I had the unfortunate displeasure of having to sit through while waiting for A Skylit Drive to go on at Warped Tour this year) interviewing one of the modders from JoblessPunk. He does a great job of taking jabs at Sony, and markets himself by putting his email out there for others to contact him if they are interested in mass-production.

Catch the video after the break.

PowerMat Commercial: It's Fucking Charging!

I'm really sorry for posting an ad video, but holy goddamned shit, this made me laugh. Get the Office version below, and the Dorm after the break.

Capcom wants to know how you want your Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition content

Image via GAME Watch

Capcom-Unity is running a poll about Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition's release method: Do you want DLC or a re-release, ala PS2 Resident Evil 4?

In Japan, Capcom is releasing it via disc. For North America and Europe, they're still fiddling their thumbs on how to do this. So, just as other companies asking people what they want for their extra money, Capcom put up that poll above.

Me, I kinda want a new box, but on the other hand, I just the goddamned mansion mission.

[TIME NOTE] Should Xbox Originals Have Achievements?

Ever since Microsoft announced they would allow downloads of original Xbox games - cleverly called "Xbox Originals" - gamers abound were wondering if the games would be direct ports, or enhanced versions of their favorites. Imagine, Halo: CE running at least 720p, true widescreen, enhanced visuals, better control mapping, Xbox Live enabled, and with XBL comes Achievements.

However, Microsoft dealt one hell of a blow when they announced the games would be direct ports with absolutely no added bonuses or perks, and on average costing $5 more to download than a physical copy you'd find at a brick-and-mortar store. Why charge more when you've done absolutely nothing to enhance the experience and cut out the physical medium? Of all things, it should be cheaper than the physical copy.

At the time of this writing, with the XBO program launched back on December 4, 2007, Microsoft has released 18 titles on the service, including Halo, Fable and Indigo Prophecy. All 3 games listed are amazing games - if you've never heard of Indigo Prophecy, I highly recommend you go out and pick up a copy; you'll get more joy out of owning this game rather than having a download - and are worthy of this shoddy service. It's a great window-shopping experience to get you into the world of what once was Microsoft's first foray into the world dominated by Nintendo and Sony.

Xbox 360's Wireless N Coming Sooner Than You Think

Remember all that talk about a wireless-n adapter for your Xbox 360? If the recently-found GameStop listing is true, you'll have yours on November 3rd for $100. The original adapter is still listed at $100, but it's a safe bet GameStop doesn't want to lose any money on something that Microsoft will probably not drop the price on.

At this point, it seems as if Microsoft will just give gamers the choice of which protocol they want. One offers a/b/g, the other has a/b/g/n. With the Wi-Fi Committee unveiling the new logo with the 'N' branded on it appearing on the top right, we can say "confirmed" with the pack-shot, but for price and date, it's still unconfirmed.

Ironically enough, this launches mere days before Halo Waypoint. Coincidence?

Uncharted 2 Special Edition in UK Only, Get Yours Now [UPDATED]

Image via

[UPDATE] With recent revelations on the UK getting video game price hikes, Uncharted 2 is now listed at £54.99/$87.62, up £5 from the previous price. However, the £10 price cut is still in effect, giving you a sale price of £44.99. Modern Warfare 2 was the first game to get this price hike a while back, before I started Destroyed Controller. Is this special edition worth $90? No fucking way.

The below information still holds merit, just be weary of the price hikes, which have been updated below.

I need to get this out there before we all forget: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves hits shelves in a mere 9 days. Nine, goddamned, glorious days. That's next Tuesday for you calendar illiterates. What doesn't hit US shelves that day? This special edition. Where does it hit? The UK. Across the pond. The place where tea and crumpets are a common thing. That place...

Thankfully, there's import shops, specifically, (or GAME). Linked to from the SCEE launch page (warning: link opens 100% flash page), GAME is the only site listed that is offering this Special Edition Box Set. Oh, and it's pre-orders only. And it's the same price as the regular edition. Go figure.

GAME lists it at £39.99/$63.73 £44.99/$71.68, down from the regular price of £49.99/$79.67 £54.99/$87.62(conversion prices via Google Currency Conversion). Alright, a few dollars more, but is that stopping you? Shipping is £4.95/$7.89, which isn't bad at all. They do have a £4.95 charge for all pre-orders, which is a bit absurd. However, there is a bit of a snag...

[NIGHT NOTE] Kristen Bell is back in Assassin's Creed II

Image via Joystiq

Oh, Joystiq, what would I do without you? Well, I do have Kotaku, but that glorious head of hair on Crecente can't solve all the worlds problems.

Enter Kristen Bell. I, for one, forgot about her small - but important - role in Assassin's Creed, Lucy. Remember that hot, blonde girl in the present day helping Desmond through his "memory loss?" The one that revealed herself as a member of the same guild creed of assassins by curling her left ring finger back near the end? Yea, that one.

Oh, and the crazy, lightning-induced, hot, blonde chick from Heroes, Elle. Yea, that one.

Anyways, she's back in Assassin's Creed II as, you guess it, Lucy. Head past the break for another shot. You look at that picture. You look at it long and hard. You then look back at me and I dare you to say you wouldn't hit that.

New Releases : October : Brütal Edition

Image via Joystiq, via EA

Here. We. Go!!

Month 2 of the Holiday season. September kicked things off with games such as Halo 3: ODST, Ninja Gaiden Σ II (I'm going to miss that sigma symbol) and Dead Space: Extraction. This month, Nathan Drake makes his long awaited return, along with Jack Black Eddie Riggs with Gay Tony holding down October's hind-end, but not before Ratchet & Clank makes a timely entrance.

Oh, and that over-priced, all digital handheld has it's debut. It has a name, but I..just...can't...OH! The PSPgo. That's right. Sorry, the $250 price tag and Sony backing out of the UMD-to-Digital conversion program pretty much left a knot on my head right where my interest for the device was.

1 - PSPgo (Sony)
4 - Wii Fit Plus (Wii)
7 - South Park: Let's Go Tower Defense Play! (XBLA)
13 - Brütal Legend (360, PS3)
       Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)
20 - Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (PSP)
22 - Trine (PSN)
27 - Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time (PS3)
Left 4 Dead 2 Demo (XBLM, Steam)
29 - Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony (XBLM)
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City (360)

Just wait for November, bitches...

New Releases was made using my iCal account; dates are added once they are discovered. Many of the games listed above are those that have "struck my fancy" and do not necessarily cover all game releases. Games in italics have been added after the post's initial creation.
