[EXTRA INCENTIVE] Stakes Raised for Destroyed Controller's Logo Contest

Here's the deal: the contest for creating a logo for the website hasn't been as...lively as I thought it would be.

The original contest prizes were a 3-Month card to Xbox Live, and the runner-up won a Flaming Helmet Avatar prop for your, well, avatar.

I've decided, with a recent freebie by Microsoft, to up the ante for those that are willing to take part in this contest. Wanna see how the grand prize winner will be rewarded? Hit the break and find out.

[UPDATE] Don't Write-Off Metal Gear Solid 3 3D Quite Yet

[UPDATE] It's since been confirmed that transfarring will only happen on the Japanese release of the MGS HD collection, so no Snake Eater Vita for you.

Kotaku just wrote up a nice little "love/hate" post about MGS3's 3DS port, and I'm seeing a lot of hate about the 3DS version, especially since Konami announced that the MGS HD collection would support the Vita transfarring feature Hideo has talked about, meaning you can take your MGS HD save files across both your PS3 and Vita (akin to Valve and Steamworks, being able to play the same game with the same save file across your PC and Mac).

Kotaku's biggest issue was with the controls, where, with just one circle pad, the camera controls are on the A/B/X/Y buttons, similar to how all PSP third-person action games have you control it. But, with the circle pad expansion thingamabob, the controls are near perfect.

A lot of people think that Snake Eater's port to the 3DS is just that: a port. You guys are forgetting about the key features that makes this stand out a little bit better against transfarring:

[UPDATED] Resident Evil 6 Announced, Teases Game Location with Coordinates

*Yes, I know it's blurry; it's a still I snapped from cam footage of the teaser trailer.

[UPDATE] You dirty, dirty whore. It turns out that the trailer is a fake. Kotaku says that sources are telling them the trailer is fake, but that "early morning confirmations" from Capcom Japan said the trailer was being shown at TGS behind closed doors.

So what's going on here? I have no fucking idea, but Capcom better release a statement about just what the shit happened in the last 24 hours.

[Original Post]

48.415802 -89.2673

That's the numbers to take away from this trailer, as Capcom has officially announced Biohazard Resident Evil 6.

I went ahead and plotted the coordinates in Google Earth, and brought me to a town called Thunder Bay, in Ontario, Canada, just past the US border north of Minnesota. What's so special about Thunder Bay? Well, a quick trip to Wikipedia shows that it is the most populous municipality in NW Ontario. Settlement began in the late 17th century with fur trading on the river banks, which became vital for shipping goods between Canada, the Great Lakes and the East Coast of the US. That means jack shit, because the kicker is that Thunder Town has become a "knowledge economy" due to - here we go - medical research and education.

Final Fantasy XIII-3 Site Domain Registered, Everyone's Reaction Compiled in 10 Seconds

So Square has apparently registered a domain for finalfantasyxiii-3.com. No, that's not a typo; that's the second sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.

Here's everyone's reaction, as performed by Steve Carell. Enjoy.

The Original Crysis Coming to Consoles Next Month

Yes, you're reading that right: Crysis is coming to consoles (Xbox 360 and PS3 via download) next month. EA is promising "new lighting and effects" as well as new Nanosuit controls in the rerelease.

What didn't they promise? A reprisal of "Can it run Crysis?" jokes.

Penny-Arcade Reveal GameStop-Preorder-Exclusive Uncharted 3 Poster

U3_PA_Poster_r2

Is that enough hyphens for you?

Sony partnered with Penny-Arcade to get you this fairly snazzy poster when you preorder...at GameStop.

For one, I'm one of the many who absolutely fucking hate retailer-exclusive pre-order bonuses, especially of the physical kind. But, I'm here to help!

You see, Sony has uploaded a 7,200 x 10,800 resolution image of the poster in it's entirety. For those who are not pixel-inclined, that's the equivalent of 12" x 18" poster with a 600 DPI. Take the high-res image file to Kinkos (or any other printing place that does high-quality stuff) and have them print it out. I'm sure the cost of the poster would outweigh the price of having to walk into GameStop.

Not sure how much it would cost, but just make sure you take the Original sized file on Sony's Flickr account (the link leads to the Medium file size; click on "Original" when you get there) to your printer place of choice and a 12" x 18" print-out at 600 DPI.

Why You Should Buy Resistance 3's Doomsday Edition

I've been putting off buying Resistance 3 for a number of reasons (primarily, I have Deus Ex, a full-time student's worth of classes and assignments, Dead Island on the way from GameFly and work), but after seeing what the Doomsday Edition offers, I've convinced myself that it's definitely worth the price.

The Doomsday Edition is $150. With that, you get:

  • Resistance 3
  • Sharpshooter Gun chassis
  • PlayStation Eye
  • Move Motion Controller
  • Move Navigation Controller
If you were to buy them separately, you'd be spending $210. Already, you're saving $60; that's basically Sony giving you the goddamned game for free.

Sure, it only works for those who don't have anything Move related, but have been wanting to get into the fray (this guy) for a while now. I've heard some bad things about the sharpshooter gun attachment, but given time, the learning curve subsides.

I may not pick it up immediately (specifically for the reasons above), but for anyone even thinking about buying it, then you should be walking out of the store Tuesday morning with one nestled under your arm.

[WHY?!] Microsoft Making Kinect Bowling Ball Accessory

External image

Slap this under "fucking retarded", because Microsoft announced a bowling ball accessory for Kinect.

Yea, like that won't cause a few TVs to break. At least Best Buy will enjoy selling you a TV with an Xbox/Kinect bundle and the bowling ball, and laugh as you come in a week later to replace the damned thing.

Couldn't even begin to think who the fuck came up with the idea and why they weren't laughed out of the office.
